Technique
Students learn the mechanics that make swing dancing feel better: timing, body organization, leverage, compression, balance, and cleaner movement.

Biography
Maria has been teaching since 2008 and has spent years helping dancers move beyond memorized patterns into real understanding. Her classes are built to help students feel the difference between “getting through moves” and truly dancing with connection, timing, and intention.
Since beginning her West Coast Swing competition journey in 2019, Maria has continued to raise her own level through active training and national-level competition. That ongoing growth shapes the way she teaches: with high standards, practical structure, and a strong respect for the social roots of the dance.
Today, Maria is competing as a West Coast Swing All-Star and uses that experience to help students in Salt Lake City train more intelligently, dance more comfortably, and develop skills that hold up in both classes and on the social floor.
Teaching Philosophy
Maria’s classes are designed to help dancers understand not just what to do, but why it works.
Students learn the mechanics that make swing dancing feel better: timing, body organization, leverage, compression, balance, and cleaner movement.
Maria teaches dancers how to communicate clearly with a partner, not just perform patterns. That creates a more comfortable lead/follow experience and a more social, responsive dance.
Musicality is taught in a way that is practical and usable. Students build rhythm awareness, phrasing, and confidence interpreting the music without feeling overwhelmed.
Maria also trains other West Coast Swing teachers and TAs through regular continuing education sessions, helping raise teaching quality and consistency across the local community.
